several nights ago... well, almost a week ago, i was out driving around with M and her Mama. we stopped at a pavilion on Little Sewickley Creek to chill for awhile, and a whole family of deer showed up to graze! it was twilight, and very hard to see anything through the trees and bushes that screened them from the road above as well as my camera. something spooked them, and they emerged from the small cut, but not chaotically, or frantically, like might be expected. instead, a larger buck kept still and watchful of danger while the smaller deer loped quickly and carefully up the embankment, across the road (in front of a car once), and up the hill beyond. then the buck ran up once all the rest were safe above. it was great.
